Major James Wigglesworth D.S.O., the famous flying ace, known to his chums as "Wiggles" embarks on an adventure just before the start of World War II. Accompanied by his cousin Archibald Montague Tracey, known as "Archie" and teenage flying protégé "Blondie" Ribblesdale, "Wiggles secret mission is to take a German base, established in the Cape Verde Islands, out of action.
The trio, accompanied by a young radio operator, Roy, have a ripping adventure where, as well as the flying action, the young men are confronted by sexual behaviour that is not of the norm for young English gentlemen.
"Wiggles" and his pals discover things about themselves that they never knew, as their respectable style of life is challenged by unusual native boys and the dire, dangerous situations that they find themselves in.
This action adventure is replete with sexual descriptions and homosexual acts between "straight" young men. Of note, is that as well as the explicit male to male sex that is expected of a Richard Peters' novel, the author describes the experience of flying and combat as having a sexual element for the flying aces.
